Lithuanian students take part in Holland exchange
Two Lithuanian students have taken part in an exchange to Holland and tell us about their experience while they were studying there.
The placement started well, traveling without adventure. Flights weren’t late, we didn’t get lost in the airport. After arriving to Amsterdam we were greeted by Ted. We had heard only good reviews of him, and communication with him it confirmed - now we name him in Lithuanian manner "Tedis." He took us to a place of living, next day he showed us the companies where we had practical training, familiarized with our “bosses”, presented and showed the school "ID College". We were surprised of the school workshop equipment and training stands. They are made such a way that the principles of operating units become understanding quickly and clearly. Our English is good enough (we understand and are understood too) although sometimes we have some difficulties of terms and names of tools. Town we live are very nice, full of all sorts of channels and bridges. It is unusual for us to see that bikes are more popular than cars. There are so many bicycles every day as a "critical mass" in Kaunas during any event. It was also amazing for us the teaching methods - that there were at the same time, at the same lesson three teachers. Teachers don’t provide information, but they advise and help to learn (the most students are studying themselves, while teachers act only as advisors/ assistants roles). We have a lot of impressions and all they are good.
On behalf of Bridgwater College, we would like to say thank you to Steve at Falcon Self Drive who has provided a minibus and people carrier to help with transportation of our the students.
